More than 100 bath cuddlers are set to join Bath Rugby’s inaugural team.
More than 100 Bath Rugby players are set for their first official Bath Rugby squad.
The players will be competing in a pre-season friendly against the Australian Open at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on August 26.
Bath Rugby chief executive Simon Chapman said the squad will be the largest of any Australian league since the AFL was formed in 2006.
“The players, who have played in Bath Rugby for the past 12 months, will be representing a brand new and unique Australian club and this is the start of the journey to a new era for Bath Rugby,” Mr Chapman said.
AFL team at the top of the ladder?
The players are currently playing in the NSW and Queensland Tournaments, but Mr Chapman says they will soon move into AFL competition.
He said they were looking forward to competing against a higher calibre Australian team.
“I think they are a very exciting and ambitious team, they are young, they have been through the rigours of the TAC Cup and they are ready to take on the challenge of the AFL,” Mr Chappas said.
The players have been given the task of training in the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the club has hosted a series of tournaments.
“It’s a great platform to be able to build a club in Sydney and it’s going to be very exciting for them,” Mr Gibson said.
